Title: om mani padme hum
Fandom: Star Wars
Pairing: Padmé/Sabé
Just a quickie manip :)

Binary stars orbiting an unseen center of mass, pivoting on a fulcrum outside themselves, between themselves. Padmé and not-Padmé, Sabé and not-Sabé. The evidence of the eyes attested to the physical fact of two bodies, two beings, two different women on one divan, yet to grasp at the empty space between them was to understand that there is only one entity without division, no emptiness between them.

Yes...if you squint that is the actual text. (A bit from a fanfic that I am promising myself I will take the time to finish and post once this semester finally limps past the finish line. The slash beckons...)

Your surprise is rather comical -- it is like you just discovered that a monkey can operate photoshop. Consequently, I am unsure if "actually rather good" is praise or not.

Joking aside, I knew that was how you would react. My photo manip "skillz," such as they are, were honed on modding for for Jedi Outcast and TES:Morrowind back in the day. (modding is also the reason i know my way around a hex editor, which in the grand scheme of things, is even stranger)

I just rarely decide to post the things I make for my own pleasure. But I knocked this one out in a couple hours of procrastination and was kind of pleased with it. And so here it is...
:iconjldragonfly:
Once my intual raw shock, not only at yr abilties but also at your mere prescence here had worn thinly enough to type, I actually danced around for a quite a few moments on what turn my comlementry phrasing should take. I finnally settled on the 'actually rather good' simply b/c it was a strong enough praise that did not imediatly show my complete lack of knowlage in what it takes to create a photo manip- my own abilities with such a thing being limited to what the edit drop down effects cataory has in my finepix camera software. ^^; i know, sad.

I genuanly like it- the drawback i see in most manips being the comple dissaray with directional lighting and miss-matched textures being complelty lacking in yr work. (ie, ya did good, so far as this poor traditional artist can diect with her limited eyes.) This appears solid, clean, unified and genuanly pleasing to the eyes, while still textured with a kind of doting little details, (like the text in the back) that make for it to be a very, very sophisticaed and sensitive work.

the crux of the matter being i'm a slight pinch jeleous- afterall, you already write better and read faster than i, with more education under yr belt now- what on earth do i have to offer you if you become a finer artist as well? ;p

That a good enough complent for you? ;)

Oh dear... I suppose I can admit that my last reply was digging for compliments just a wee bit, so now I am definitely blushing. (But do us both a favor, and do not sell yourself short! Cease and desist immediately! Also, you will always be the artist of the two of us, silly)

It is funny you should mention directional lighting -- that was probably (no, definitely) the one thing that irked me. The source pictures for the gals had very different lighting and the original pic I used for Sabe was rather washed out. So it is pleasing to hear that it doesn't look too glaringly mismatched.
:iconcoppermantra:
Also: "Sophisticated? Moi?"
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Er...I mean: Naturally, my dear, naturally.
:iconjldragonfly:
*evily knowing grin* if there is one thing i know how to do, my dear, it is to complement, sincerly and deeply, mostly b/c i spend my time imaging such things to fall from other's lips about my own works, and sadly, with very few acceptiones (you being the primary example as well as the lest often to speak), i am often disapointed. *hint hint* I am also deeply intmidated on a personal level by digital art in all its forms; the concept being, that with a few mouse clicks you can create in a few hours what for me, with referances, would take weeks- and if you are unsatisfied you can just go a wee bit back in the 'save' history and, whola! i have not this ease.

If you ever feel insecure about directional lighting (or just wish to see what not to do) go to the brouse section of DA and just look at the photo maips that fall under 'newest' verses ' popular'. Some are good, and others are glaringly painful.

and i do hope this is the start of more pretties from you, and a continued presence around DA..though it would be polite to start watching yr dear friends at this point, my dear. ;p

:giggle: as murasaki might say, the work doesn't always reflect the person making it. ;p
